From the Basingstoke Gazette Web Site:
A
SHOP in Old Basing has served up £1,000 as part of a nationwide effort to
help a children’s charity. Spar, in Linden Avenue, has held a
series of events to play its part in the franchise’s national bid to raise
£1million for the NSPCC.
Customers and staff have been digging deep by taking part in a raffle and a fun day in June, and feeding a collection box.
Now that national target has been reached and the owners of Spar in Old Basing, brother and sister Bob Pyle and Mary Salmon, are thanking their customers for their contribution.
Mr Pyle said: “We are lucky in Old Basing that people have supported the fundraising.”
Last year the store raised nearly £1,000 for the cancer charity Macmillan Nurses.
Rosie Day, NSPCC head of corporate partnerships, said: “It is a sad reality that child abuse exists in every community across the country.
“But thanks to the invaluable support from staff and customers at Spar Old Basing we can continue our fight to bring it to an end.”
