My wife runs the Neighbourhood Watch scheme for our road and received the following report last week. Given the time of year and how plausible it sounds, I thought that it was worth publishing here.
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072 396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator)
Neighbourhood Watch is about more than just having a "You are entering a Neighbourhood Watch Area" sign pinned to a telegraph pole in your street. It is about caring for the community. The scheme is always looking for new members.
Does your road have a neighbourhood watch scheme? Would you be interested in finding out more about neighbourhood watch schemes on Old Basing any Lychpit? If so please call Anne Read on 01256 333338.
