BOLTON ARMS "BOTTLE ON THE BAR" CHARITY
The Bolton Arms are carrying on the tradition of raising money through the year for charity in their famous "Bottle on the bar".
In previous years charities such as St Michaels Hospice and Breast Cancer Awareness have benefited from the warm generosity of both locals and visitors to the pub.
This year it has been decided that the charity will be the British Legion Poppy Appeal. As always Remembrance Sunday is a very poignant Day in all our lives but particularly this year in Old Basing. The British Legion turnout of local residents was noticeably outstanding at St Mary's Church where a very fitting service to our fallen and serving soldiers administered by Father Andrew. Some of the locals including ourselves decided on a Sunday tipple in the Bolton pub were talking about the Remembrance Service the charity was decided.
We feel the Bolton Arms deserves the recognition of ‘their charity’ contributions through the years and therefore no better way to show this appreciation of the efforts of all involved by putting a piece in our local paper Gazette and Basinga, together with a photograph of the Landlord and Landlady, maybe even throw a few regulars into the picture (the photogenic ones of course!).
