There will be a meeting of the parish planning committee, but sadly the only available venue is the tearooms up at the recreation ground. The meeting will take place on Monday May 10th at 7.30pm. The tearooms can take about 50 people so groups of residents might like to consider sending a representative otherwise there might well be some accomodation difficulties.
Peter Chadwick from the County Council and a representative from the applicants will be present to give a short talk and then to answer questions from the public. They will, in their initial talk, deal with such matters as traffic movements, noise pollution, emissions of toxic matter into the atmosphere and is it necessary for such a facility to be so close to a densely populated residential area?
Armstrong Road is in Councillor Mrs Frankham’s Basingstoke North division. She and a number of local premises in Armstrong road were notified but the County failed to realise how close this application was to a residential area. The County has accepted their error, the consultation period has been extended, the local Parish Council informed and the date on which the County will make their final decision has been moved from May 26th to the end of June.
The Borough nor the Parish have any part in the decision making process of this application.
The purpose of the meeting is to get the facts on the table and give the Parish Planning Committee and local residents all the information that they will need to consider whether they wish to register an objection with the County and if so what their reasons are.
If residents still feel sufficiently concerned after they have absorbed the information they will have to consider whether they wish to send a delegation to the County on decision day.
