Last year, for the first time, St Mary’s Church, took part in the
Heritage Open Days (HODS) scheme operated by the Civic Trust and English
Heritage. It was a great success, with visitors from all over England and
various parts of the world. Pictured, left, is Marilyn and Paul Wright
after Paul's talk on the church organ. This year, St Mary’s church will be taking part
on two of the allotted days.
For hundreds of years, situated in the centre of the community, St Mary’s Church has been associated with the solemnization of marriages. I would be very interested to borrow, old wedding photographs or items of wedding memorabilia associated with St Marys that could be loaned for display purposes. They would be well looked after and returned afterwards.
I would also be very interested to hear from any couple that would like to take part in a short Service of Thanks Giving for Marriage on Sunday September 14th at 5 30pm, (after the end of HODS )
