The
final stage of refurbishment at The Haymarket in Basingstoke is now
complete, meaning that The Exchange - the new café / bar at the theatre in
Wote Street - is now open to the general public during the day from 10.30am
to 2.30pm, and from 6pm on performance evenings.
The café / bar has a brand new menu serving hot and cold food at lunchtimes as well as the Illy coffee and fair-trade drinks and snacks that customers have been used to.
The stylish open plan Exchange is light and spacious, now with new
windows opening out onto Wote Street, making it the best new place to have
lunch in town. With brand new front doors, The Haymarket and The Exchange are now fully
accessible to all. The floor to the café / bar is on a single level,
reached by a newly installed platform lift, situated just beyond the main
lift to the auditorium.
The Exchange is wi-fi enabled making it a great place to meet friends and colleagues or just catch up on emails with a coffee and snack.
The new space was called The Exchange in recognition of the historic past of the building as the nineteenth century Corn Exchange.
