Parish Councillors wanted

I COULD DO THAT!

Basing & Lychpit Parish Council membership is up for re-election in May 2011. We need new Parish Councillors so, what about volunteering yourself?!

Our Parish Council is absolutely non-political. There is a full Council meeting once a month as well as those committee meetings of which you are a member.

Many people, me included, have found this way of serving our community to be an interesting and rewarding activity. It is a completely local council making decisions on purely local issues.

My experience is typical of many of our past and present Parish Councillors. I began as a Parish Councillor in May 1982 and served on many committees that included the recreation ground, Lychpit hall, finance and various others like traffic and community action group and Countrywatch.  I also became involved in the waste issue and had many meeting regarding the incinerator on the A33, and still follow this issue attending liaison meetings with other Hampshire authorities about minimising waste and reducing the impact of waste.

There is no compulsion, you choose just how much time you wish to commit. You will be made very welcome and soon become an integral part of a team that tries to do its best for Basing and Lychpit.
If you feel you are the person, stand for the Parish Council in 2011.

I shall be pleased to answer any questions. You can contact me on cllr.s.marks@basingstoke.gov.uk
With Best Wishes for the New Year,
Stephen Marks,
