At the meeting a report was submitted by PCSO Rebecca Quirk highlighted actions taken by the police teams over a week period included
PCSO Rebecca Quirk will be writing to schools head teachers suggesting repeated offenders of traffic violations around the schools might be included in schools newsletters sent to parents.
Police will be shortly organising an ‘Enforcement Phase Operation' during the November-December period to issue further tickets of offenders.
Initiatives from Schools - The Junior school has registered with Hampshire County Council Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) scheme. Two children have attended the JRSO conference and will be implementing some work in school as a result.
Ideas and improvements were proposed by Steve Weston resident of Frazer Close to committee with comprehensive detailed drawings which was endorsed with minor changes and everyone understood current financial constraints. It was agreed when those minor modification to the plan could be submitting to Hampshire County Council Highways for consideration to make Old Basing a safer environment in and near our schools.
The much publicised footpath reported in The Gazette to allow children to walk safely 'off the highway' to school in Milkingpen Lane. HCC Highways are scheduling work which is hoped to start in the next few weeks with inevitable traffic jam chaos whilst roadwork's are enforced.
