Do you have green fingers? Or own a local business?

Our plans are progressing well for the Old Basing Schools PTA Summer Fayre on Sunday 13th June at St. Mary’s Junior School.
Last year our plant stall was incredibly popular and sold out quickly so we are trying to get more plants this year.  Are there any Basinga readers who could support us by donating some plants you have been growing for your garden, to help raise funds for the Infant and Junior schools?
We are also looking for local businesses to support the schools by donating a raffle prize or perhaps by placing an advert in the Summer Fayre programme which gets distributed to around 1000 families before and during the Fayre.
If you can help with the plants or would like to support us via your business please contact me via Basinga and I will get in touch with you.
Your support is much appreciated.

Many thanks.

World Cup Nations - Old Basing Schools PTA Summer Fayre 2010

Following the huge success of our previous Summer Fayres, this year’s Fayre will be on Sunday 13th June 2010. Please put the date in your diary now.  We are anticipating that the only topic of conversation this summer will be the FIFA World Cup so we have chosen the theme of “World Cup Nations”.  It will be influenced by the World Cup but will also take inspiration from the nations taking part in the tournament, so there will be something to appeal to everyone – even if football isn’t your thing!  As in previous years, we have asked pupils from both the Infant and Junior Schools to take part in a competition to design the Summer Fayre poster. The winning designs will be used on leaflets and programmes to promote the event and will be on the Basinga website.

As our plans progress we will keep you updated via Basinga.
Here’s hoping for fine weather and a good turn out once again!

Posters

We asked all pupils to design a poster to advertise the Summer Fayre. We were looking for bright, eye-catching designs. It could be football themed or inspiration could be taken from the countries taking part in the World Cup this year. Designs were asked to be drawn in felt tip pen on white A4 paper.  The winning entries were as follows:

From the Junior school the winner was
Aemila Rugman.
And the winner from the Infant school was
Maya Leach.

And the other entries we received were:
