Old Basing Allotment and

 Garden Society (OBAGS)

www.obags.co.uk

OBAGS, founded in 1977, aims to help meet the gardening needs of allotment holders and gardeners in the Old Basing and Lychpit area. Membership is, however, open to those living outside the Parish who wish to join.

We maintain trading huts at the Riley Lane allotments which are open for sales to members between 10.30 a.m. and 12 noon on most Sundays throughout the year (November to February first Sunday of the month only). A full schedule is displayed on the hut door. We supply a range of commonly used composts, soil improvers, fertilizers and garden ancillaries (but not generally seeds which are available through a bulk order each autumn). Our objective is to provide competitive prices and conveniently available supplies for our members. A plant sale is held every year, usually in May. In the past garden visits have been organised and, with sufficient interest, could be reactivated.

Membership is currently £3.00 per annum, of which £1.75 goes as a subscription to the National Allotment Society. Membership can be obtained at the trading huts on a Sunday, or by calling our Membership Secretary, Hazel Shaw, on 01256 843758.

OBAGS would welcome any offers of help, particularly in the manning of the shop even if for only one or two sessions per year for one and a half hours on a Sunday morning. Please note we will always have two or three helpers at any one time. If interested in volunteering please contact Maurice Bates on 01256 328423, or make yourself known at the shop.
