John Dodds is an amateur wildlife photographer living in north-east Hampshire. From a young age, wildlife, and especially birds, have captured his imagination. John loves all aspects of wildlife and tries to combine this with his photography.

John first visited “The Haven” in the mid 1960’s on one of “Doc” Suffern’s weekend walks up the then, privately owned, eastern side of the current reserve. These walks, together with the encouragement and help he received from other local birdwatchers, has fostered an interest  which has lasted over 40 years. When “The Haven” opened as a reserve in 1976 he became a volunteer, and for 20 years, regularly guided visitors around the hides. John is still a frequent visitor to this superb reserve.

Many of the images on display illustrate the wonderful diversity and beauty of our own UK wildlife, and is proof that you don't have to travel to exotic destinations to see and experience fantastic wildlife. In addition, there are pictures from recent trips to Europe and the Falklands. John hopes that you enjoy the photographs displayed and will encourage you to go out and see some wildlife for yourselves.

Each photograph was taken on either a Canon 350D or 40D digital SLR camera body in combination with either Canon 500m, 100-400m or Tamron 90m (macro) lenses.
