Here we are in our second week of blizzard conditions in Basingstoke. I have to admit to being quite weary of the whole issue. My “Apres Ski” boots have had more wear this winter than in the previous 20 years I have owned them. You are correct in your assumption that I have been downhill skiing in my younger days, although I don’t think that Ariadne on Ice will be featuring on your TV screens in the near future. To be honest, I was never very good at skiing, and struggled with the fact that Spencer (despite not having a sporty bone in his body) seemed to be quite good at it.

Marcus struggled into school today through the snow, on account of his A level Maths exam. He was a bit glum when I picked him up later as most of them had apparently found it “quite hard”.

Violet-Elizabeth informs me that she is required to dress up as a Tudor for a History banquet at school next month, and can I make her a costume? This will exercise my grey cells. At least she has given me a months warning, unlike like last time when I had to rustle up a Robin Hood outfit overnight. I shall be scouting round the Charity shops for some likely looking material, and I must ask Spencer to get my sewing machine down from the spare room. I sometimes wonder whether these teachers realise what pressure they put the parents under when they make these requests!

Marcus seems to be getting glummer by the minute. It was another
maths A level exam today, and I think that might have something to do with
it.
Rehearsals have been stepped up for the Basingstoke Gang Show, as they have
had to miss a few sessions due to the snow. I have already got my
tickets for the show which will be running from 11th-20th February at the
Haymarket. It should be a wonderful event, given all the hard work the
youngsters have put in. So rush down to the Box Office and book your
seats!
