Tony Tuck sent in the following about a car that his father built from scratch.

"For
those of you interested in cars, this 'Rolls Royce' 1907 - Silver Ghost was made
by 'Leslie Tuck' (my father). He built it by hand from plans supplied to
him by Rolls Royce. Sadly, Leslie died on the 1st December 2007, and I
took these pictures in his memory. Here it is displayed in my study, note
Georgian windows as indication of the size, and it is heavy!
The car
also featured in the Model Maker magazine on the front cover in the 60's and was
displayed in London car showrooms of Rolls Royce for more than 10 years.
The original registration of the actual (full sized) car, on which the model was
based, was AX 201, and was built by RR for Lord Ives.
Les worked in the motor industry prior to the war, he serviced and test drove the car, it was beautiful he said. It took Les 5 years to build it from scratch, and the only part he didn't make were the tyres which were specially made by Dunlop in 1954. Everything on the model works including rack and pinion steering, gearbox, back axle operates as do the doors, bonnet's horn. Dad said the most difficult' part to build were the leaf springs which also function."
