I was looking for other web site who may be interested in adding a link to our Basinga Extra home page as an attempt to help get it noticed. My searches soon led to a web ring called the Basingstoke Roundabout. Now, I had heard of web rings before, but only in passing. But, this seemed to be promising so I investigated some more, and asked for our site to be added. A condition was that we display the Basingstoke Roundabout logo on our home page, which explains why it is there.
The web ring has quite a few interesting site there, for example:
There are various other web rings about all sorts of subjects, for example in my research I found rings about
... you name it - there is a web ring for it.
So, when you think about it they are quite useful things to have. Please take a tour round the Basingstoke Roundabout, but beware I have found that some turnings are a dead end!!
I was looking through the server log files one day, and I saw lots of references to a page on our server that was not found. It was called favicon.ico. So, off to Google (again!) to see what this was all about. It didn't take long to find out that when someone adds your site to their bookmarks (i.e. chooses Favourites from Internet Explorer menus, and then Add to Favourites from the drop down list) a request is sent from the browser to server for an icon to display next to the bookmarked pages name. Ah! I think we should have one of these. So, how do we make one.
Oh Joy! The next thing I find is that there are websites out there that will make you one for free. They simply take gif or jpeg of what it is you want to use, and then convert it into the required format. So I choose the Parish Shield from the home page and made an icon out of that. If you bookmark our home page now you should see something like the following in your favourites list:

If anyone else has a icon that they think might be more suitable, then please
send it to me at:
