Blood is something we all expect to be there for us when we need it, yet only
4% of us give blood. Many people would not be alive today if it wasn't for the
generosity of our donors. Do something amazing...Give Blood.
- NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority in
the NHS. It is the organ donor organisation for the UK and is responsible

- NHSBT’s donor line - 0300 123 23 23 - is available 24 hours a day,
seven days a week with all calls charged at the standard local rate, even
from mobile phones
- The NBS collects approximately two million units of blood each year from
1.4 million blood donors
- The NHS needs 7,000 voluntary donations of blood daily
The National Blood service will be providing us with a series of articles.
